Bottom of the Hill recap, A Truer Sound Review, summer tour, photoshoot

Played at the legendary Bottom of the Hill last week… it was a grand night for our friends Il Gato as they performed their new album in its entirety with a string quartet and horns. A glorious time was had.

Putting the finishing touches on our summer tour, with the last tentative date confirmed at the Doug Fir in Portland on Aug 21. Full itinerary details available in our Shows section… and needless to say we are just itchin’ to hit the road with our new songs.

That said, our little EP just picked up another great review, this time from Americana blog, A Truer Sound (named after an excellent Son Volt song):

“Slow burning americana” and I really can’t think of a more apt description than that. Very moody, very lo-fi, very mellow. Some great steel guitar throughout. Fans of Richard Buckner and Richmond Fontaine might want to give them a listen.” read more

This past weekend we spent a day showing photographer Shannon Claire around our lovely Oakland town, making stops at our favorite haunts: Mandela Parkway, Chicken & Waffles, and the infamous First & Last Chance Saloon.

She took many photos of us rehearsing in the Oakland Hills. Here’s a sample from the shoot, and a dark little video:
