First two sessions: done!

Tracking for Beautiful was the Night is now in full effect… this past weekend we wrapped up most of the basic tracks (drums, guitar, bass). Friday began around 6pm with load-in and setting our levels, followed by some light drinkin’ and jammin’ late into the night. Saturday we kicked off at 10am sharp and track 8 songs. Sunday was about the same… with a few breaks here and there for donuts, coffee, and some nearby BBQ.

This week, the focus will be on vocals, pedal steel and our guest musicians (Eliot Curtis on tuba & trombone, Howie Cockrill on mandolin and violin, John Halbleib on trumpet, and Brianna Lea Pruett & Erik Hanson dropping by for some guest vocals). The album already sounds amazing… we could almost put it out as an entirely instrumental work and be satisfied with it, and that is a testament both to the lovely Quantegy 499 2-inch tape we are using, but also the damn fine work by our engineers Eliot and Lucas at Rec Center.
We’ve got just 7 days left on our Kickstarter campaign, and we’re short our goal by about $1,180. If you have a dollar (or 10), please send it our way - just click the green Back This Project button!
