SF & tour recap, in which we return home triumphantly
So nice to be back home in our own beds! The homecoming show at Hotel Utah was nothing short of spectacular, with our friends Coyote Girl, Not an Airplane and Vandella turning in stellar performances. We were a bit punch-drunk, but the cheers and hollers from the crowd kept us going.
We’ve got some video on the way from the Utah show, but for now, please enjoy this slideshow of sorts, set to My Town Is Underwater as recorded live at the Echo Curio back in LA:
We’d like to thank all those who gave us a floor or couch to sleep on, bought a CD, made long treks to catch our set, or simply took some time to give us a listen. You can peruse all of our updates from the road here. Here’s a few silly stats that we’ve gathered from the tour:
- miles driven: 2,292
- CDs sold: 38
- cities visited: 9
- lost items: 1 sleeping bag, 1 drum stick bag, 1 pillow
- chickens: 47
- goats: 2
- dogs: 3
- cats: 3
- broken strings: 1
- peanut butter sammiches: 14
- creeks swum: 1
- celebrity sightings: 3
- van load-outs: 10 (this is miraculous)
- new friends made: too many to count
What’s next for The Shants you ask? Well, we will be supporting rising Americana star Eilen Jewell on Sept 14 at Cafe Du Nord (you may have heard her on HBO’s True Blood). Then, we shall spend the Fall months recording our debut, full length album at Tones on Tail in Oakland.
